Smoke on the PLateau
AN Evening of storytelling with Chef Kelsey Kilawna
On the Saturday night of Revel & Feast, guests gathered at Alchemy Studio for Smoke on the Plateau, a fundraiser supporting the sqilx’w Elderly community. Led by Chef Kelsey Kilawna, the evening invited guests into a deeper understanding of food, culture, and connection through her nation’s teachings.
The experience began with a welcome tea, gently setting the tone for the night ahead. From there, guests shared in a family-style dinner that reflected both generosity and intention.
Throughout the evening, storytelling remained at the heart of the gathering. Kelsey shared teachings rooted in her culture, offering guests a meaningful way to understand food beyond the plate. Her son accompanied the evening with drumming and singing, adding a powerful and emotional layer to the space.
Kelsey created exactly the kind of gathering that stays with you. It was thoughtful, grounding, and quietly powerful. More than a dinner, it was an opportunity to listen, learn, and experience food through a different lens.
We are already planning to welcome Kelsey back next October, and we look forward to continuing this special collaboration.
